Back again!

August 23, 2010 - 4:54 pm 4 Comments

We are back from our Road Trip to San Diego and already planning for the next one ;) heeheeee Yeah, we have been driving 875 miles in total and it was FUN to be in the car with Adrian for so many hours! I can’t wait to our “Around America in 40 Days” Road Trip :D

We went to visit friends and they showed us San Diego and Disneyland. San Diego is now in the top 10 cities in my book!! I love it!! We visited Balboa Park (that I looooove by the way), Seaside Village, Old Town, Downtown and lots more. Of course I took a ton of pictures…

Isn’t that a funny sticker??? :D

On Friday we had to get up very early in the morning and drove to Disneyland. The first few hours were great. The weather was nice and not too hot and the rides are a lot of fun too. But then it got hotter and hotter…. It was crazy! I hate hot weather, especially when it is over 100°….. Yuck! I really love the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride ;)

Since I won’t be able to scrapbook on our 40 day road trip that starts on Sep 20th, I am now preparing a little surprise for my blog readers :D I just say: Videos ;) hihi  If you have an idea or suggestion about a topic I could make a video about, please let me know right now ;) I would be very happy about every comment and e-mail :D

Crazy Ideas and some Pictures

August 8, 2010 - 9:56 am No Comments

The first time we talked about our idea was in May 2008. We then thought about going on a crazy road trip for a year, all around the USA . Many other things happened and our idea was gone for a couple of years, until yesterday night. We were sitting on our white IKEA couch and talked about things we really want to do before we have kiddos (don’t panick, we don’t expect a baby ;) ). On Google Maps we made a route of a possible trip, all around America. Right now we are looking for the best time of fall foliage in the eastern side of the country – what means that we are looking for travelling THIS fall!! Well, it is way too soon to say anything concrete, but, hey, you never know :D It would be awesome to travel for about 1.5 months……. I really hope that this dream can come true and I don’t even care if we can’t go this fall, but maybe next fall…??

After saying this I miss Canada more than ever. I just loved the way it started to get colder and colder every morning I headed to the bus stop to go to school. I love it cold and freezing and snowing. And I loved the street I lived on. Our street was flanked with huge old trees and in fall the leaves would silently fall down. I loved to walk in this magical “city forest”…….

beautiful beautiful nature….

the last Canada Geese

and then finally it started to snow – a little

(by the way, that was the view from my room and this is the street I was talking about)

Gosh, now I feel fally and christmasy….. Great!!

Have a great Sunday :D

Summer Video :D

July 14, 2010 - 4:59 pm 2 Comments

Yesterday I created this layout about my favorite summer “food” (dessert…..?) heheee  Homemade sherbet…… Yummy… :D

Recipe: Put frozen or fresh berries with some yogurt, sugar, orange juice and vanilla into a cup and blend it. Then put it into the freezer for about 4 hours. READY!!! :D

Tips and Tricks for colorful layouts: Sometimes bright colors overtake the important picture, especially if you have more than just one huge photo. To go against that without changing the patterned paper try to use some black or white acrylic paint underneath the picture(s). It will make your pictures pop and give the whole layout an artsy look!

Road Trip and Stamps

July 6, 2010 - 7:38 pm 6 Comments

Our 1-day Road Trip on Friday was a blast! It was so good to drive 400 miles and enjoy each other while we were singing and laughing in the car! California is such a beautiful and stunning state! I have been in Santa Barbara a year ago but never more northern than San Francisco.. I was absolutley amazed, how beautiful the landscapes are and how you really feel the ‘wild wild west’ up there!

Today I have been working all day long on my new Clear Stamp Collections! Yes, after a long back and forth in my mind Adrian has finally convinced me to do it! We will start small and I am designing four brand new collections, but there are already more designs around, that hopefully will come out later on in fall sometimes. I am very very excited and I can’t wait to start stamping with those stamps :D

I don’t want to show you the collections already, but for the fourth collection I wanted to involve you a little! Lately I have been doing some splashes and splatters and played around with them a little. I always thought, that those trahsy designs would look very cool on layouts. As far as I know Tim Holtz has brought out one Stamp set with splashes on. Here a little sneak peak, how it would look like….

Now, would you buy such a stamp set or would you not?? What do you think?? Please leave me a comment here on this post! I would love to know what you think about this idea!! :D

By the way, have you seen the two new Pages here, Gallery and Custom Made??

Our New Home

June 21, 2010 - 10:39 am 2 Comments

After a fun Father’s Day Weekend I am back with pictures of our new home! It is still pretty naked, but slowly everything comes together.

This is my new Scrap Space. I will make a video about it – pretty soon I guess… ;)

Like I said, everything is still pretty naked.. I really thought it would be easier to style my own place, but it is not! I like feminine things as much as I like bold black furniture. Adrian likes just bold black furniture….. I guess now since we got all our bold black furniture (that I really like by the way) I have to go along with that style we picked.. (And start putting up some more feminine and cozy items like cute paper pom poms and fun pictures……) It will be a challenge, but that is great, I like challenges ;)

Have a scrappy day!!

I feel so fresh and new lately and that made me change my blog theme yesterday! I love the brightness that is now owerpowering the whole site in its good way :) Feels so good to make changes!! :)

I have a new layout to show you guys!! I scrapped with my favorite picture of our wedding ;) I like this scene so much!  It just makes me smile every time I look at it ;)

I also promised to show you some apartment pictures! Well, here they are ;)

By the way, it is cleaned now, but I thought I wanted to show you THESE pictures first ;) LOL

By the way number two: I am starting on doing videos again soon. I know, I have stopped doing them and my fans and subscribers on youtube were asking for more. Since I finally have time for such things again, I thought I could ask you people, what you would like to see?? Give me ideas, please ;) You can post them right here on this post or send me an e-mail: rahel@swissgirldesigns.com   Thank you!!! :)

Random kinda Day

June 14, 2010 - 3:12 pm 1 Comment

Today I have some random things to blog about. Let me count the randoms ;)

1. Did you know that Staples sells BOOKRINGS!!?? Well, they do! I found them while looking for magnets (that I got there too). They have three different sizes and are pretty cheap ;)

2. I love the 40% Coupon by Michael’s. Two days ago I got myself the Martha Stewart Punch with the three butterflies. Yesterday I got a K&Company Paper Pad (Classic K – Charlotte) with 36 double sided patterned papers for 6 dollars instead of 9.99! Like I said, I love the 40% Coupon by Michaels……

3. Today is a “Thank you” day. I have written almost all of the Thank you notes from the wedding. I have done this like so: writing two note cards, reading one of my favorite blogs, writing two note cards, reading one of my favorite blogs, …. It worked out very well!

4. It is getting pretty hot in here, so I will turn on the AC right now!

5. Last night I had a dream about the perfect bread. After trying two times to bake a bread last week I almost gave up. The thing is, that we had different ingredients in Switzerland and now I have to deal with other stuff – huge challenge…..! After my positive dream I tried again and voilà, I made the perfectest bread in months!! I am so proud! I had to call Adrian immediately!! ;)

6. Just a random picture from my scrapbook space…

7. Yesterday Adrian and I started to play tennis together. He was very good – ten years ago. I always thought I would HATE tennis, because we had to play it once in school (in summer at about 2 PM with a horrible teacher). Well, I thought wrong! I love it! I was even getting a little better than Adrian… Okay, maybe not, but that doesn’t matter, it is fun! Can’t wait until the next time we play together!

8. Gosh, now since the AC is on, I start to freeze…. Great!

9. I am listening to classic wedding music…

10. I am gonna stop now, because I don’t know what to write about…. One last thing: I can’t wait until Adrian comes home to taste my perfect bread ;) LOL

Have a great day!

the Road to Hana Pictures

June 10, 2010 - 11:16 am 3 Comments

Finally I started to go through my Honeymoon pictures! Finally!! And now I would like to show you some pictures from our Trio to Hana!

Click on this picture to get a better feeling of this black and white scene. I love it! I already decided to hang them on our living room wall ;)

I was a little disappointed, that there were more or less just rocky beaches instead of the white, sandy, endless beaches I dreamd of! But anyways, they were great for taking pictures ;)

This we also found on our way to Hana. I have never seen something like this before and it was GREAT! And I mean it ;) The big trees were breath taking and so were the colors of the flowers.
